i can swim,
i can cycle,
i can play badminton,
erm........
waw it seems like my abilities are kinda limited.

aihz pathetic.
i think i'll just work with Alam flora in the future..

Production of Benzene - Attention to Mr.Yan Keen Thung

Benzene is produced in volcanoes, forest fires and it is also a component of cigarette smoke.
it is a principal component of combustion products produced by the burning of PVC.

synthetic reaction to form benzene :-
1.Catalytic reforming
2.toluene hydrodealkylation
3.toluene disproportionation
4.steam cracking

easiest way is toluene hydrodealkylation.
toluene is mixed with hydrogen, then passed over chromium or platinum oxide at 500–600 °C and 40–60 atm pressure. Sometimes, higher temperatures are used instead of a catalyst (at the similar reaction condition). Under these conditions, toluene undergoes dealkylation.

C6H5CH3 + H2 -----> C6H6 + CH4

This irreversible reaction is accompanied by an equilibrium side reaction that produces diphenyl t higher temperature.

2 C6H6 -----> C12H12 + H2

If the raw material stream contains much non-aromatic components (paraffins or naphthenes), those are likely decomposed to lower hydrocarbons such as methane, which increases the consumption of hydrogen.
A typical reaction yield exceeds 95%.

Recent events and happenings

okay so last night the Hash House Harriers have this Halloween party in one of the Hasher's house.
i took a lot of pictures but due to inexperience and inappropriate tools, the pictures are kinda so so quality.
anyways, this is how i look like last night.
it was taken by my phone..



then the moon halo come by.
very obviously the whole kuantan was taking pictures of the moon and so i did too.
but unfortunately, my computer was fried and till today it is still in the "hospital".
hence, pictures of the halo will be up when i got back my computer.
btw this moon halo was also taken by pey sien.
i was lazy to look for others so aiya pinjam ny la.


then this morning, according to what pey sien has captured, there was another halo but this time is from the sun!
waw i wonder how many times the halo will keep appearing.
i did a little research on halo and i found that it is an optical phenomenon produced by ice crystals creating colored or white arcs and spots in the sky. Many are near the sun or moon but others are elsewhere and even in the opposite part of the sky. They can also form around artificial lights in very cold weather when ice crystals called diamond dust are floating in the nearby air.
